The appeal for rehearing submitted by Antrim citizens who have been violated by this act was GRANTED on September 8, 2009, and you are invited to be present for the rehearing on the date certain at 7 PM on Tuesday October 6, 2009 at Antrim Town Hall. The town of Antrim is charging the several residents who have been named on the rehearing application and who are acting on your behalf, $752.50 in fees for this, as well, the independent property impact study, independent noise study (which are crucial pieces of evidence), and remaining costs all add up to a total of $1652.50. To defer these costs, the STOP THE CELL TOWER ON TOP OF PEOPLES HOUSES FUND has been setup. To donate, contact shanna782@yahoo.com via e-mail for instructions on how to financially help these courageous individuals acting on your behalf who need your assistance.
Summary
In a decision reached by three of the members of the Antrim Zoning Board of Adjustment on July 14, 2009, a Cell Tower Communication Facility containing a tower with (3) cell arrays, (3) utility buildings, (6) air conditioning units, (3) diesel backup generators, and a chain linked barbed wire fenced campus has been authorized to be placed at 22 High Street in the (R) residential district at a private homeowners home where they reside, directly on top of abutters homes and “altering the essential character of the neighborhood”, diminishing surrounding property values, causing excessive noise throughout the neighborhood, being offensive.
This decision was not limited only to this individual location, and has set a precedent affecting the entire (R) residential zoned district for the entire town, allowing the same or similar facility to be placed anywhere on a residential piece of land, lot, or private home by way of a similar exception and variance. Your neighborhood and home in Antrim may be next, and there is nothing you will be able to do about it, unless you act immediately.
Despite strong opposition, and in violation of the existing zoning ordinances, three of the five voting members apparently voted to approve the cell tower facility in the (R) residential zoned district (zoning article VI) where it was prohibited. Approval of the cell facility prevailed by a narrow vote of 3 to 2.
Beginning right now, we also propose that you immediately contact each and all of the (3) ZBA members who voted yes to the original cell tower, and are listed below, and ask respectfully that they reconsider their decision, and DENY the exceptions and variances leading to the placement of this cell facility in the (R) residential district on top of houses at the rehearing. Your home, neighborhood, town, and community is at stake. Please act immediately.
